Oral Surgery

At Durell Dentistry in Indianapolis, we perform extractions, socket preservation/bone grafting, and dental implants.

Extractions in Indianapolis

If we can’t restore a compromised tooth with bonding or a crown, we may recommend an extraction. Tooth decay, infection, and crowding are all reasons that you may require a tooth extraction in Indianapolis.

Dr. Dancy performs the extraction using local lidocaine to keep you comfortable. If the tooth is visible, then the surgery is usually over quickly. Broken teeth, teeth below the surface of the gums, and impacted teeth require more time in the chair.

Socket Preservation in Indianapolis

Socket preservation is a bone grafting procedure that protects the alveolar ridge and empty tooth socket from decaying. The alveolar ridge is the bone strip surrounding the teeth’ roots. When a tooth falls out or is extracted, the bone begins to dissolve and will eventually disappear. Dr. Dancy performs socket preservation using local lidocaine to preserve and protect the ridge and surrounding bone tissue.

Dental Implants in Indianapolis

A dental implant acts as an artificial tooth root that provides a foundation for a replacement tooth. Implants become a permanent part of your mouth, unlike traditional removable dentures.

Dr. Durell Dancy places a dental implant in the jawbone. Once the implant fully integrates into your jaw, an abutment is connected to the implant so that the artificial tooth can be attached.

For more information on dental implants, see our service page.
