Dr. Shira Ruggs Dancy

Shira Ruggs Dancy, DDS (aka Dr. Shira) began her dental career over 15 years ago in high school by completing a dental assistant program. Her interest and passion for the field of dentistry grew, and she decided to pursue the Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. She completed her Biology degree at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and her DDS degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD).
Her goal is to provide quality dental care and educate her patients on the importance of good oral hygiene and a healthy diet. Dr. Shira practices evidence based dentistry and regularly completes continuing education courses.
In addition to Durell Dentistry, Dr. Shira also practices on the Far East Side of Indianapolis at a Federal Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and as adjunct faculty with IUSD.
Outside of the dental office, Dr. Shira enjoys going on adventures with her husband, Dr. Durell, and their four children and family. They enjoy festivals and road trips.

- She is currently learning Spanish
- She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
